About the Teacher
Terri Desmond, Director
My World: I am the mother of three children
ages 14, 11, and 7. I have learned so much about myself from my
children, and look forward to learning from yours! I have been
involved in the care of children since I was a teen. I love being around kids. I am a
Christian and I believe in the authenticity of the bible.
In the past, I taught Sunday school at our church, Northshore
Baptist in Bothell, WA. My favorite room to volunteer in is
the infant room, got to get that baby fix!
Our World: We have been involved with overseas relief efforts via
Compassion International, Campus Crusade for Christ and Children of
the Nations (www.cotni.org). My husband has climbed mountains with BromanX,
www.bromanx.org , which raises
money and travels on short term missions to help African communities
devastated by aids. My husband has recently returned to school
to study Nursing.
Education: I was trained in Montessori methods for ages 2.5 thru 6 from MTP of Kent,
Washington. I have a bachelor's degree in Math, with minors in
German and Computer Architecture. I worked at the
Northwest software giant after college for 6 years, and then decided
to stay home to raise my toddler son. I also have graduate studies
in Nutrition from the UW. I am a lifelong learner! I am
currently researching how children learn to read, in an effort to
help those children that have difficulties deciphering the written
word. I will start an afternoon program to help children that
are struggling with reading.
